Nikon Auto Extension Ring PN-11

This arrived by courier today. The leaflet states it is "designed for exclusive use with the Micro-Nikkor 105mm f/2.8".

No problem, I have this lens (non-AFS, non-VR but nice and sharp). But I also have the 200mm Micro-Nikkor and an elderly 55mm Micro-Nikkor. So is it safe to use with these lenses without risking damage? How about non-Nikon lenses like the Zeiss ZF 50mm and 100mm Makro Planars?
