In reply to Jeff Peterman, Jun 13, 2012

Jeff I think this is somewhat untrue. If everyone decided to stick with OEM batteries then canon just keeps raising prices for what should be a very cheap accessory. Also where I come from these batteries are well over a 100$, probably still is. I paid a quarter of that using generic brands and if everyone bought generic batteries Canon will either do 2 things, maybe 3.... 1 reduce the cost 2 completely lock out the generic brands with firmware, 3 tell a fairy tale that generic batteries cause explosions when inserted in their camera bodies.
