I far prefer the second one. The first one does just look under exposed. Also I am not so sure about these shallow depth of field where parts of the subject are not in focus. I find it more relaxing to the eye when the whole flower is in focus. This wafer thin DOF is fashionable at the moment so I will not have many allies here. I find when I look at the full screen picture I am not sure what I am supposed to be looking at, no feature seems to catch the eye and I am trying to figure out I am supposed to be looking at the petals, the raindrops, or the yellow centre. I do feel you you need a distinct feature which is razor sharp if yiu are using a wideish aperture pushing part of the subject out of focus.

Just my personal feeling, not an experts view.
