Depends on what Canon releases...

...in it's mirrorless camera and that all depends on whether they will develop new lenses for a smaller sensor. My guess is that they will want to go smaller to make a point of difference with their DSLR range but where does that leave the G1X? I would not think that Canon would cut short a new generation of the G series to introduce a mirrorless camera of similar size using the same (close to M4/3) sized sensor.

Clearly, the CX sensor (finally) fills the gap between M4/3 and high level compact (1/1.7") cameras and I am sure that others will hop on the bandwagon.

With the noise performance of the Sony and Nikon CX sensors being OK, the only problem I see is DOF limitations with sensible lenses.

Cheers
