Good on you Mike for taking the time and effort to provide such a well thought out and detailed
clarification, and one which from my experience is spot on the money.

Alas I no longer own the 200 f2, I have owned both versions, vr1 and vr2, both stellar but the later version just pips the original in my view.

I also have the 70-200vr2, again a fabulous lens especially up close, the zoom feature it must be said can save the day in many situations.

I replaced my 200f2 with a brand new 3002.8 vrII, another stunning performer and a lens I'll never part with, reckon it's as good as it gets of one requires 300mm.
