New D3100 User: Upgraded from D60 for only $100

My main "best" camera (for the past 3 months) is the Nikon D5100 with the 18-105mm VR and 50mm 1.8 G. I also had a D60 kit that was mainly for the wife to use, although I did it use it on occasion .

Over the weekend, I managed to get a D3100 kit for $400 that included 2 extra EN-EL14 batteries for a total of 3. I sold my D60 kit for $300. That's not a bad price ($100) to pay for a 2 generations upgrade, especially with the 2 extra genuine batteries thrown in (try finding generic EN-EL14s). Although this DSLR is the one my wife uses, and she's a mere "point & cilcker" so much so that even a D40 would be plenty for her, I do sometimes end up using this second DSLR myself, moreover, as the D5100 I use & this D3100 use the same batteries & charger, that helped lower the "battery clutter" vs when the second DSLR (for my wife) was the D60.

The camera arrived today & I took a few photos with it to try it out & "break it in." Here are 3 of them (shot in RAW, processed in LR 3.5 and Photoshop CS):

(1) Our 5 year old

(2) Our 5 year old again

(3) Our 3 year old & 5 year old

The D5100 is the best DSLR I have, from here-on 95% of the time she will be using the D3100 as opposed to me while I use the D5100, but I must say it's a pretty nice DSLR in its own right. And getting it in place of a 2 generations-older D60 for only $100 more (including the 2 EN-EL14 batteries) is quite a bargain.
