The best way to resolve this issue is to keep up the pressure on Canon to only charge a nominal fee for this repair - if shown to be the "poorly designed aperture flex cable problem".

It's not an easy design problem to fix with such an established product, so I wouldn't expect a recall, but they could at least soften the blow.

I would urge anyone submitting the 24-105 for repair to make a strenuous case for only being charged at cost, or say about $150 or equivalent, on the basis that this is a design weakness not apparent in most of their other lenses.

If every case is pushed for a reasonable repair cost, it should make it easier for the next one.
