The Leica M3 Single-Stroke incorporated this feature for F8 and F16. The M2 also had it. The M3 Double-Stroke did not. Somewhere I have an M3 manual with the directions for using the indicators.

Personally: I never made use of it. It was easier to use the DOF scale on the lens, or simple "have a feel" for the DOF of a lens when stopping down to a particular aperture.
