To me - practically none

Everyone has different needs, but I think I'm fairly average in the sense that I'm simply not going to be printing large enough high quality prints to make those extra pixels ( and the extra effort to exploit them ) worth it.

And those extra pixel just mean I end up processing for twice as long as I need to. At the end of the day I still end up with the same 8x10 or even 12x16 as far as practical viewing is concerned.

My highest pixel count DSLR is 12Mp at the moment. I could probably squeeze a bit of use out of 16 Mp occasionally, but I've found stitching better both in terms of the real detail I get from the shot and the flexibility it gives me with regard to kit. This won't suit everyone, but it works for me.
