pics with bunched up histograms - fix them?

thanks for the conversation! the original shot was canon raw, converted to dng so CS4 could use it. The dng viewed in CS4 was converted to jpg as part of the "save for web" process so I could post it here.

will try some of the ideas you have suggested. did not know about changing contrast settings in camera.
