A CP will help with sun glasses reflections and the the tone of the sky. Be sure to adjust it for each shot if you leave it on.

If you're going to be posing photos, even just a quick pose, just shoot opposite of the sun. It's never top dead center so you can simply use it as your light, and the sky that will be behind your subject will be darker than the sky behind you, where the sun is. Use the pop up flash for fill, and you can adjust the shadows and sky in post if need be. You can even get a little diffuser for your pop up flash that will make it a bit softer.

You can also look for a shady area to shoot a portrait or something, but that may be too posed and you'll probably end up with a wall as your background which gives no real context as to where you are.

For candids you'll just have to use the flash and CP, stay close, and expose for what's important to you.
