There is such a distance, on most heads with base panning, to the top of the platform that they will almost always introduce some error and be out of alignment.
That is why many companies, including ours introduced heads with 'Top Pan'.

Having leveled the Top Pan base, the head will be about 99% foolproof for pan rotation and stitching.

Any head, on which you do not have top pan, must have the tripod perfectly level and then level the camera, to be close. A top pan style of head can eliminate this issue.
By the way, this can be added to any Arca-Swiss head later.
