You realize that´s not quite the same, of course? If you overexpose due to AutoISO (assuming the average meter reading is OK here), it just means your Aperture and Shutter setting led to an ISO value out of range. Either you need to set ISO to a fixed value outside of that range if you can, or use an ND filter... Apples to apples.

Setting ISO and going back to Aperture priority will influence Shutter speed, defeating the purpose of the fixed aperture and shutter; it also can lead to the same overexposure once the range of speeds is exhausted (sooner or later depending on your ISO setting)...

If either one of aperture or shutter don´t matter, there´s no reason to go for M.
