Tripod recommendation - do I really need to spend £200 (300USD)?

I bought a Benro A1580F aluminum tripod for $107 plus a Manfrotto 498RC2 ballhead and the combination seems more than solid and adequate for my Canon T1i and Tamron 70-300 VC lens. It is actually not that heavy to carry around. It has the snap locks which I much prefer over twist locks. I just can't see the need to spend as much on a tripod as a camera or lens. It probably would not be adequate for a big heavy zoom lens, but that is not in my near time future anyway.
Of course the above is just my opinion and experience.
