Bit of history: The D50 was quickly replaced by D70, so not a lot of people own it. I bought it when it came out. Still use it. Have thought about 'upgrading' several times just to catch up with the times. Instead, bought Nikkors (17-55/2.8 and 70-200/2.8). For my purpose (family photos) its totally dependable.

Just reset the setting and customize to your taste.

Drawbacks - reasons to upgrade to keep up with the times:

6MP, no video, no live view, no commander mode, smaller screen, old sensor, will NOT take SDHC cards (limit yourself to max 2G SD cards), 5 point focus. These are the main ones that I see. Note that none have anything to do with taking decent pictures.

You've already bought it, so dont get stuck on what features you dont have, and make the best out of your D50.
