Yes, that is a very good setup. We use a Canon 50D with the MP-E65 lens. Camera and lens were about $2000. And it's on this stand that we made:

The micrometer allows accurate focusing and stacking and the big heavy structure keeps it steady. This is very important for sharp pictures.

Also notice the working distance, which is almost nothing. This is a big annoyance since even with a ringlight all the light comes in sideways.
