I'm going to guess and say you are talking about CCD sensor bloom from overexposure due to the flash.

Ways around this:

  • Use steady video lights and don't use flash on your still setup. Requires quite a bit of light.

  • CMOS sensors are generally immune from the bloom artifact. Change the HD camera into a CMOS setup.

If you're not dealing with a CCD video camera, then the above doesn't apply.
