Just received the below from B&H per email after answering to their Customer Satisfaction Survey. It's really not much more than the same old blah blah in my opinion.

I really do wonder what they mean by "As soon as we have more substantive information we will let you know"...


Dear Andreas,

Thanks for your order and survey feedback. We are sorry for the long delay in fulfilling your order. We appreciate your eagerness and regret this delay and any inconvenience.

We have been in close contact with Nikon USA about the availability of the D800/D800E cameras and so far they haven't been able to give us sufficient information to advise you when your order will be filled. As you may know, orders for the D800/D800E cameras have far exceeded expectations. Nikon USA has assured us that they are doing everything possible to meet the demand.

As soon as we have more substantive information we will let you know. We very much appreciate your continued patience. All orders are being filled according to their place on the backorder list.

We also understand that you would like to know your place in the order queue for the D800. The main reason we do not share information about the queue is that doing so makes it possible for our competitors to acquire confidential information about our orders and levels of stock. I apologize for not being able to share this with you, but it truly is closely guarded information. It is also likely that it would not be very helpful.

Most customers who request this information do so because they want get some idea of when they will receive their camera. Unfortunately, knowing your place in the queue would not help much in determining when we could fulfill your order. When we can fill your order depends largely on how many cameras we receive from Nikon. For example; you could be number 100 on the list, and if we receive 200 tomorrow your order will be filled asap. If you are number 100 on the list, and we receive only 10 cameras a week, your order will not be filled until the 10th week. I understand that knowing your place in the queue could offer some psychological relief but we cannot share this.

We do value your business and regret the problems we have had getting this product from Nikon USA and into your hands.

On behalf of B & H, we again apologize for the inconvenience you were caused. Your business is very important to us and every effort will be made to ensure that this order and your future orders are handled to your satisfaction.
