Let me make a suggestion. Why not consider a used 80-200 f/2.8 AFS model? They are discontinued and is a different optical formula than the 80-200 screw drives or the 70-200 AFS drives.Some say it was and still is the sharpest of all the lenses Nikon has made in this category. I don't know, but I do know it's killer sharp and killer fast at the same time. It came out to replace the screwdrive, but Nikon never did. I don't remember what the going price was new but they sell used for around $1100. It's only been a few years since they've been gone. They've got a somewhat cult like following because many think nobody will ever again build such a good lens.I'm not so sure of that either. Just consider it.
