Well I'll upgrade to the 70-200 f4 soon anyway , this is a decent lens but I prefer a more solid feeling lens with better glass.
You do lose quality fast with the 75-300 once you start cropping or zooming in.
This picture demonstrates the Canon EF 75-300 mm lens. The subject is a small tube of hand lotion, 4 inches high, setting on a shelf approximately 14 ft from the camera. The picture is a 100% crop intended to show high magnification. The small lettering is approximately 6-point font, i.e., smaller than the minimum standard for most publications. Typical lower case letters are approximately 15 pixels wide in this photo.
The picture was taken with a Canon T2i/550D, and converted directly from CR2 to JPG with no further post processing. Focal length was 300 mm, shutter speed was 1/200 sec, aperture was f/11, ISO was 100. A 430 EX II Speedlite was used in ETTL auto-zoom mode.
