It means different things to different people, but try this...

From the examples you give, and the somewhat differing meanings evident in the replies in this thread, it obviously means different things to different people.

Here's the germ of a suggestion (requires more thought/development) that might help reduce your potential customers' 'wrong' requests:

On your 'order info/form', show a simple diagram that illustrates the range of possibilities you offer, using your preferred names but with a short plain-language description (& picture where appropriate), so they don't guess incorrectly.
This might also suggest possibilities they had not thought of.

1) Image Sources, e.g.

  • colour negative film,

  • colour slides,

  • print in good condition,

  • print with stains & rips or bad colour balance etc.,

  • large print in good frame (you may de-frame to copy the image),

  • large print in good frame (you may NOT de-frame),

  • images from a digital camera on an SD card

2) Desired resulting image, e.g.

  • 4"x5" prints,

  • images on a CD, SD card etc.,

  • large print - mounted or framed,

  • same-size copy but with bad colour or rips corrected etc.
