I don't have the FZ150 but my FZ35 is sufficiently close. Both my Panny and Canon p&s will give excellent results in full auto or p mode. I like some degree of control and leave the camera in aperture priority mode. I don't want the lens to stop down too much and as long as there is plenty of light I like to constrain the iso to 100. But note, unless you go to full manual mode (which I don't recommend unless you have a special reason), the camera is on auto or more correctly restricted or restrained auto, meaning I may have defined the aperture and iso, but the camera is figuring out the actual exposure, which is what counts. Some situations might require shutter priority, but in practice more for a slow shutter. If aperture is near wide open you are automatically using fastest shutter for that iso.
More important (in my opinion) settings are what you select for exposure mode and focus mode. Most time center weighted and single frame are fine, but we have some swans where I live and spot metering is best for them. For landscape full scene metering and multi frame focussing. I suspect if you use the dial or scene mode settings the camera will figure things out. Most times you won't notice the difference. The great thing about both Panny's is that little feature called 'quick menu'. I haven't come across this on other makes. The quick menu lets you change all the settings mentioned with minimum effort which means you will use it and just experiment. Most of what you set can be recalled in the exif data using say irfanview (or camera review).
As far as raw goes, I've played with it but did not find it worth the bother.
Panny's have settings for sharpness and noise reduction etc. This may be camera dependent, start off with default and experiment.
