Thanks for your reply Viking 79. Card was in, AF mode and AF-S. Everything was working fine until it stopped. When I press down on the shutter button I can hear a little click as if something is trying to happen but I don't think the mirror is able to open.
Just wondering if anyone had a situation where they went to take a picture and the camera clicked when pressing down all the way on the shutter release button but did not actually take a picture? It happened to me this morning, actually got it working again for a little while but now I cannot take a picture. I tried a different lens and still nothing. I'm hoping it is something silly that I have done.
First things I do when the camera won't take a picture:
Check memory card is inserted
Check focus mode. Is Mode AF-S or AF-C? (AF-S usually requires focus lock)
Check if I am AF or MF (might be important if in AF-S)
It sounds like this might be something else in your case though. Is the shutter/mirror cycling, or is it just doing nothing when you hit the shutter button?
