skin tones have been a strength of this camera (the sensor is canon-like) so.... unless you're telling me you like the red hues in shadows of the sony/nikon based sensors,i don't know what's wrong with the highlight/midtone detail.

EDIT: Also with focus behaviour, if its focusing behind the subject you need to make the focus point smaller than the subject, not larger. If you've got a large focus point thats much larger than the subject it wont focus on the subject but the background.

Actually, in terms of PDAF and CDAF theres not much different in this respect.
