Eliminating color shifts when using ND filters
May 29, 2012

Hi everybody,

I currently use a B&W .9 ND filter and am considering their 10 stop ND filter. From what I've read it's not uncommon to see color shifts when using these filters, I guess it varies from lens to lens and ambient lighting conditions. I see no color shift at all using their .9 filter however.

When shooting RAW, can this issue be easily corrected by establishing a correct WB or is there more to it than that? Currently, any color cast that appears in the picture, whether it be related to a filter or not, is eliminated when I apply a custom WB. This was particularly the case with my S2, I always had a greenish tint that appeared.

Does anybody have experience suing these types of ND filters?

Thanks for any assistance.

Kind regards,

Mark
