I get 400+ photos from my battery. I rarely use the flash and i shut the camera off when I'm walking around and restart when I shoot. I have never had the battery run down just because it is in the camera. It sounds like a defect. I can' say if its the battery or the camera. If you have a spare battery and it happens with both, then Iwould assume it was the camera. Good luck and enjoy it.
