Capture NX2 vs PS 5.1 RAW Highlights Recovery
May 29, 2012
|
I shoot RAW and I've been using Capture NX2 (v2.3.0) primarily for my RAW conversions. Last year I bought PS 5.1 and decided to try its RAW converter (v6.7).
I still prefer NX2 over Adobe, but I did notice a discrepancy between the two. I consistently get "blow highlights" in Adobe and need to use the "Recovery" tool to bring the highlights back down. But if I open the same RAW file in NX2 I don't see any blown highlights. And this is a consistent problem with any image that is up against the right side of the levels spectrum.
In both programs I enable "show lost highlights" (Shift + H in NX2 and O in Adobe) so I can see what the program is considering lost highlights.
Am I missing something here? Why does Adobe say there are lost highlights when NX2 says things are fine?
Thanks.
