PSP X4 really slow opening - 40 minutes

I have used PSP since way before Corel bought it. Now PSP X4 is re-cataloging and taking 40 minutes to open on my PC. I know this is a bug that has not be corrected by Corel yet. Does anyone have a temporary solution? I will be using LR4 if this keeps up. Cannot afford full Photoshop. Any other recommendations?
