Filters should be avoided if possible

It's two parallel surfaces to the sensor, which in M4/3 tends to be like a mirror. A filter is bound to reduce contrast because of these direct bounces of light.

So use a polariser or ND etc. when you need, but take the protection responsibility yourself by being careful.
