LR3 unable to import new D4 files.

I tried to import the first set of images from my new D4 into LR3. The card was reformatted before any photos were taken, and I use a Lexar reader. The thumbnails show up on a grid but, instead of an image (preview), the words "Preview unavailable for this file" appear in each thumbnail. Any suggestions?
