Struggling to get thin DoF? FF friends kicking sand in your face?

We all know (don't we children) that DoF is the same on every format for a lens of the same focal length and aperture? The problem with m43 is not getting thin DoF per se, as you can always shoot with a longer lens or get closer. The problem is re-creating that FF or Medium format look of a wider lens AND with thin DoF.

Well, if you're prepared to do a bit of PP work, you have a reasonably stationary subject AND you get lucky, you can re-create the look.

What you do is shoot with a longish lens wide open and then stitch a panorama (or, as it has been labelled a BOKEHRAMA).

Here's a quick and dirty example I did with my son goofing around yesterday, with the 45/1.8 on a G3. Six shots stitched:

of course you have to shoot in manual with the focal point fixed. Here's a link to some much better examples and a tutorial:

Have fun! Post your Bokehrama's here!
