Can anyone tell me what advantages are there with manual focus when all cameras do it for you?

My Nikon FE does not autofocus, so it's a little hasty to say that 'all' cameras autofocus. My Fuji, which has an AF motor, won't auto focus my Nikkor 50mm F/2 or my Sigma Pan-focus 135mm.

When shooting Victoria through these bushes, the autofocus would often lock onto the branches. A manual override with the focus ring on the G-lens I was using and subject was back in focus.

I have to ask. Was Victoria alright with you shooting her through the bushes? Did she even know.

(It's been one of those nights.)

A photographer should be smarter than their camera, meaning knowing what each feature is for and when it is needed.

Manual focus is still very much needed by many, many photographers.

The one serious conviction one should hold is that nothing should be taken too seriously.

..oh, and I see by the lack of responses that I am right yet again.
