Is my sb-600 outdated as my only D200 flash?

Hi,

Reading "the hot shoe diaries" Joa McNally only refers to sb-800 and sb-900 as the flashes to use. With regards to difusors, gels, etc the sb-600 seems to be lacking features. Will the sb-600 work as well as the other two in terms of staring out playong with a flash?

(the 4-5 years ago when I bought it the recommentation seemed to be that the 600 was enough of a flash 90-95% at the time).
