Do you use AF-ON or shutter half-press to focus?

I've always just half-pressed the shutter to acquire focus - right from my first Minolta bodies, and have always done so with a succession of Nikons ( D200, D300, and now D4 ). I liken it two a two-stage trigger when shooting firearms - half-press/first stage gives you the chance to be "more gentle" on the trigger and thus avoid camera shake in low shutter speed situations ( if you have ever taken long range shots with a Winchester .270 or similar, you will understand what I mean ). I also find it is much better when panning in fast action shooting as well (e.g. motor sports ). Just seems like the natural way to shoot.

Cheers,
Gary.
