Thanks. So according to your experience below, XP1 is sharper. And you said the color is comparable between these 2, I thought color is the main reason people buying XP1 ?

How about bokeh comparison ? Thanks for your info, I appreciate your help and suggestion.

I've used and owned the D700 since it was released. However, I went mirrorless due to a dislike of the bulk of the system (especially when paired with the 24-70 2.8 - razor sharp combo). I've since sold the D700 and all Nikon lenses.

What I miss from the D700:

  • massive autofocus lens range

  • superfast autofocus and easy to change focus points

  • fingertip control for metering and focus type

  • full frame razor thin DoF

  • Nikon flash system

  • knowing it can handle absolutely anything I throw at it

  • top panel LCD

What I found comparable:

  • ISO performance is as amazing as the D700 if not better

  • nice colours from jpegs

  • handling is very easy to migrate from a D700 (both cameras aren't for the 'A' setting shooter)

What I like about the XPro1:

  • what lenses Fuji does have are amazing

  • the size is just perfect. Not too small and not too large

  • the colours, especially skin tones

  • the jpeg control (shadows/highlights). You only need raw if you happen to totally screw up the settings (e.g. white balance)

  • sharpness

  • I shoot more because I bring it with me more

  • you know the shutter speed and apeture at a glance

  • haven't had to worry about getting a flash unit!

My suggestion would be to rent or buy with a view to selling it if you dislike it (yes, it will result in a financial hit, but worth it if you happen to enjoy the camera and realise what you could have missed out on). It's not a camera to try out in the shops a few times.
