RRS L-Plate for D4

Having been using RRS head and L-plates for quite a while, I have such a confidence on them that I went ahead and ordered one L-plate (BD4-L) while waiting for my D4 to come.

Now, I have the D4 body and L-plate in my hands; I am somewhat disappointed at the design of the L-plate. Specifically, top of the left side of the plate blocks the plastic covers for USB, Mic. I'll have to take off the plate in order to use the USB port every time. Does anybody in this forum have any experience on this? Any suggestions are welcome. I may have to call RRS to return this one if possible and without any solutions to overcome this sad feature.
