the K-5 successor is another camera.

The OP did not say it was.

I think that with the introduction of the k30 and the preliminary reviews from dpr, our beloved k5 will be in its way out and will be slowly supplanted by the k30.

This reads that the K-30 will take over the K-5.

It is interesting that the way Pentax has worked in the past is to launch always a better camera than the top of the APS-C line of the moment, with a better price and similar or better specifications. Then, after this happening, a new, more advanced model will follow.

This would suggest he now refers to a new model coming up

It happened to the k7, which was replaced by the k5. The k-r was replaced by the k-X. Now the k30 comes on top of the k5: lower price and better specifications.

Pentax will need to feel the void left by the k5. What's next? hopefully a full frame around $2,500 which can use all the existing line of FA and legacy 35m lenses. We will see...…

This reads like the K-5 successor will hopefully be a full frame camera around $2,500.

So effectively combining the first sentence and the last, the K-5 has been succeeded by a K-30. A FF camera is not a K-5 successor.

He just said that its hard to motivate K-5 when K30 exists.

In practice, this means that soon we will see K-3.
