Olympus: the Lens Hoods
May 25, 2012
|
Thought I lost the lens hood to my FT 70-300mm while out shooting the "super moon", fortunately it was still in my car. For the heck of it I checked replacement costs at the Olympus Store and found a new one is $25, which seemed rather a lot.
Out of curiosity, I ventured into mFT land (I have an E-PM1 with kit lens). Want a hood for the 12-50 that came with your E-M5? $35, please. A nice silver hood for your 45mm prime, plan to pay $39. The capper is the hood for the 12mm prime: $90. And that cheap little plastic lens cover for my 14-42 MkII comes in at $9.
Just plain nutty. Needless to say, I will now protect my lens hoods and covers like the gold they're apparently made of ;).
