P.S. decent Sigma zoom? - it's an oxymoron, neither Sigma, not Tampon have any decent zooms.

I disagree. Here are the great to excellent zooms each of them make:
Sigma 8-16mm F4.5-5.6 DC HSM [among the best APS-C Wide Angle lenses out there]
Sigma 10-20mm F3.5 EX DC HSM
10-20mm F4-5.6 EX DC HSM
Sigma 12-24mm F4.5-5.6 EX DG Aspherical HSM
Sigma 12-24mm F4.5-5.6 II DG HSM
Sigma 17-50mm F2.8 EX DC OS HSM

Sigma 17-70mm F2.8-4 DC Macro OS HSM [Love this one, every copy I used was great]
Sigma 24-70mm F2.8 EX DG HSM
Sigma 50-150mm F2.8 EX DC APO OS HSM [Not perfect, but pretty good]
Sigma 70-200mm F2.8 EX DG OS HSM
Sigma 70-300mm F4-5.6 DG OS [very good]
Sigma 120-300mm F2.8 EX DG OS HSM
Sigma 120-400mm F4.5-5.6 DG OS HSM
Sigma 150-500mm F5-6.3 DG OS HSM
Sigma 200-500mm F2.8 EX DG
Sigma 300-800mm F5.6 EX DG HSM

Tamron 18-200mm F/3.5-6.3 Di III VC
Tamron 18-270mm F/3.5-6.3 Di II VC PZD
Tamron AF 28-75mm F/2.8 XR Di LD Aspherical (IF)
Tamron SP 24-70mm F/2.8 Di VC USD
Tamron SP 70-300mm F/4-5.6 Di VC USD
Tamron SP AF 10-24mm F/3.5-4.5 Di II LD Aspherical (IF) [very good]
Tamron SP AF 17-50mm F/2.8 XR Di II LD Aspherical (IF)
Tamron SP AF 200-500mm F/5-6.3 Di LD (IF)
Tamron SP AF 17-50mm F/2.8 XR Di II VC LD Aspherical (IF)

Nikon, Canon, Pentax, Sony, Olympus, Panasonic all make both good and junk lenses too. Just because something says Sigma or Tamron doesn't make it bad.
