Why is AutoISO on the D7000 so worthless

No it will not...try this just as I suspect the OP did. Set Your auto ISO to a max of 3200. Set your Min shutter speed to 1/60 (or any thing else you might take a fancy to). Now using your Easy ISO in Aperture priority inadvertently set you base ISO to 3200 and aperture to what ever you wish. Spin around in any direction....point the camera at any subject. Stand on whatever foot you find most steady and take 300 hundred pictures. Don't review any of them until you get home. Have a nice single malt whisky and while looking at the pics on your computer, count how many of the 300 were taken with a ISO less than 3200. I bet the count will be less than one I'm not going to bet the farm on it as I've been more wrong than right lately but It's happened here before...and recently too. SET BASE ISO CORRECTLY should be highlighted in the manual.
