I have an older SZ-10 -- not as advanced as the SZ-31, but same basic size. It is a great little camera (fits easily in your shirt pocket, along with a spare battery). The zoom is amazing. It takes very good pictures, and the ones you will get from the SZ-31 will be better! Like Mike, I use Spot focus, and have no problems at all. At twilight or at night, I put it on something and use the self-timer to avoid blur on long exposures -- particularly at extreme telephoto settings. SZ-10 from yesterday, east of San Diego...
