So I did what you said and changed the shutter speed the outside the range of the aperture and when the aperture blinks the exposure doesn't change.

However, when I change exposure compensation the evf brightens / darkens as expected. Apparently evf exposure is pegged to exposure compensation. Could this be a bug? Maybe.

Regardless, I don't think the blinking is enough. I'd rather see it turn red in addition to blinking. would be very obvious then. Sometimes I'm so busy shooting / composing I never even see that there is an issue. Red would help. Ideally the camera should compensate automatically but in general the function works, just not in the case you mentioned.
