I own the Canon FD 80-200 F4 non-L Lens and use it sometimes with a Novoflex Adapater.

In terms of handling, it's hard without any Stabilization - at 200mm the screen just keeps on shaking.

So handheld shots you need at least 1/500 sec Exposure time to get a sharp image.
Otherwise Tripod highly recommended.

In terms of IQ for this lens, I cannot say it is good - it's ok for the price I paid (around 80$), but do not expect too much. Stopped down to F8 its getting better, but to maintain 1/500s exposure at F8 you really have to crank up the ISO.

If you are serious about handheld Tele-photography the Sony 50-210 with OSS might be a better option.
