Yes the filter continues to do what it does.
Thus it is possible to equalize the exposure for red, green and blue. It is an easy way to get the right edges of the R,G and B histograms nearly perfectly aligned.
Without the filter on my D300 the red will blow way before the blue gets close to right edge of the histogram's x axis. Reds and blues look more true to the subject and I get less noise in the shadow on the blue parts.
Certainly it is a trade off with speed and F/, and it is definitely not a doctor's order...
I like to use the 80A when I can under incandescent lighting.
