Hi Dan, thanks for the comment and interesting proposal. Perhaps it's a question of form and function.

However, I'd argue that Fuji has most likely made the camera as fast as they could (within limits of price point, current technology, etc). And the next iteration will perform even more quickly, which I don't think anyone will mind (even rangefinder enthusiasts!).

Your point does remind me of the lomography movement, though. Though obviously anyone could load up a camera with the same film and shoot in a "lomo" style, there are always those that prefer physical constraints to mental ones.
