There are protocols/procedures they follow to "check" your lens. Some of those include disassembling your lens ... and check everything in each aperture, focal length ... focusing system, IS, etc ... Yes it can turns out nothing damaged, but the full QA is re-done again

When I called to question the charge, they told me the technician spent 9 hours working on the lens!!
