This is why I got the D800

I used my D800 with a 70-200 II to take a series of images to stitch a pano that will be printed at 30"x120". The image below is a crop of 5 images merged with CS5. The camera was in a vertical orientation.
Anyway, twice the printer called me stating that the image was "stunning" and that the detail was "amazing". This printer guy has been around a long time doing large prints, so for him to be so excited about an image is something I didn't expect. He was laughing and said his 1Ds III customer would be quite jealous.
I didn't get the camera to make others jealous or to impress the printer; I got it because I expected the landscape photos to have incredible detail - indeed they do!
Below are 2 100% crops - slightly diminished quality due to the jpg.
