Let's review what really happened

1. Someone damaged a tree in an attempt to steal it
2. The Government decided it would be best to take the tree down.
3. They either didn't know, or didn't care that the wood was very valuable.
4. They left it unguarded, and it was easily stolen.

So once again the Government has demonstrated that they are too inept to properly manage some things. And you want them to be in charge of our entire healthcare industry! (Wait... they are already in charge of that in Canada, which explains why so many Canadians come here for treatment.)

Leaving a $50,000 tree to rot so it can feed insects and mushrooms is the stupidest idea I have heard in a long time. They could have knocked down a bunch of cheap pines to feed the insects, and sold off the very expensive cedar wood to help feed hungry people or buy textbooks for their schools.

Incidentally, I'm not so sure that insects like cedar. Isn't that the wood that is used to line closets and drawers to ward off insects?
