Nikon 1 file recovery (mov/mp4 files)?

Well, I finally joined the "I deleted the wrong file" club after MANY years of shooting digitally.

Does anyone know how the file structure works for mov files on the 1 series?

I have a sinking feeling the the Nikn 1 actually does a hard delete because none of the recovery tools I have used (both Mac and PC) see the mp4 file I am after.

I am really bummed and I hope some kind soul here can help me.
