[VR or not VR] ...and now, back to our regularly scheduled program...

I basically agree with previous posters:
Get low [...] you have less risk of the AF focusing on to the ground surrounding the player
Patience Accept you cannot cover the entire field, soccer fields are large.
Change position [...try] different angles. [...] get players faces and eyes when the drive towards goal
All the rest Don't forget shooting what goes on around the field [...]
Eyes and emotion As in all sports, try to capture faces, looks, emotions.
Thanks for the tips and the photos. Seeing your pictures makes me want the 70-300 all the more to get close in (whether or not my AF will get better).
Of course, under-8 youth rec soccer doesn't have immense intensity and does have lots of ball crowding. There isn't too much drama but I can find a story and a few moments. Your tips will help.
So to summarize, I can't do everything all the time. I probably should accept a relatively low keeper rate... and try to "make it up on volume?" And I'll keep trying. It's been a lot of fun for me and a new challenge with my camera.
I appreciate all the encouragement and advice from the gang!
